Snoop Dogg Busted... Again

For US rapper Snoop Dogg, getting arrested is about to become a routine activity, if it wasn’t already. For the third time in three months, Snoop Dogg was taken into custody.

According to reports, Calvin Broadus, known as Snoop Dogg, has been arrested on Tuesday, November 28th on charges of drug possession and a firearm. Burbank police officers arrested the rapper near the NBC Studios where he had just finished taping a performance on Jay Leno’s show, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

A Burbank Police Department spokesperson told reporters that authorities performed a search warrant as Snoop Dogg and some of his friends left the studios. The traffic was reportedly shut down for hours.

Results of the search revealed marijuana, cocaine, a firearm and a false compartment in a car, according to spokesman Sgt. Kevin Grandalski. The weapons charge is a felony. The artist who performed “That’s that S….!” and “I Want to Love” on Jay Leno’s show, was booked and his bail established for as much as $60,000. Snoop is reportedly still in custody.

Authorities obtained the search warrant as a part of an ongoing investigation stemming from Broadus’ Octomber 26 arrest at the Bob Hope Airport on drug charges and charges of being a felon in possession of a weapon, Grandalski said.

According to reports, on October 26 Snoop Dogg was carrying a gun and a quantity of marijuana in his car during a routine search at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank California. According to Burbank police Sgt. Kevin Grandalski, the musician was stopped for a vehicle code violation, parking in a loading area.

“An investigation revealed Calvin Broadus to be in possession of marijuana and a firearm," a police statement said.

However, the rapper’s attorney, Donald Etra, claims in a statement that “There was no basis for this arrest. We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed.”

The rapper and actor was bailed out for $35,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on December 13, said his publicist, Meredith O'Sullivan.

Snoop Dogg was booked earlier this month when he surrendered to Orange County police to face charges of possessing a deadly weapon he tried to take with him on an airplane at John Wayne Airport in September.

Broadus was heading to San Francisco at that time and claimed he needed the weapon for a movie and that he was unaware the weapon was illegal. Airport officers retained the object and allowed Snoop Dogg to embark on the plane without citing him. He paid a $150,000 bail and was released.

Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg was cautioned by police in London following a brawl at Heathrow Airport in which he was arrested with members of his entourage on suspicion of violent disorder and affray.

In 1990, he was arrested for cocaine possession and convicted. Later on, in 1993, he was charged with gun possession after a traffic stop. He pleaded guilty in exchange for three years’ probation. The deal also included him to make a public service announcement against violence.

Three more years passed and in 1996 he was acquitted of murder following the death of an alleged gang member who was shot from the vehicle Snoop Dogg was traveling in.
