Guess Who's Driving Beckham's Stolen Jeep?
SKOPJE (Reuters) - Police in Macedonia said on Friday they were unsure whether the country's interior minister was driving David Beckham's stolen BMW.
"We cannot confirm that this is Beckham's jeep," a police spokesman said, after local media reported that minister Gordana Jankulovska's new official car was Beckham's missing 4x4.
In 2005, Macedonian police impounded a BMW X5 on the Macedonia-Albania border in a raid on a people-smuggling gang. Police later said they suspected the car had been stolen from the Real Madrid and ex-England star in the Spanish capital.
The car is official interior ministry property until the rightful owner claims it.
Police spokesman Ivo Kotevski said Jankulovska's jeep was "probably not" Beckham's car.
"The only connection between the impounded jeep we have and the one stolen from Beckham is that they were stolen at approximately the same time," he said.
