Nude Driver Tried To Hit Police
GONZALES, La. -- A nude driver hit a trooper during a traffic stop and tried to run over two more before police shot out a tire to end the chase, state police said.
Authorities said they didn't know why the man was naked.
Bryan Batulis Jr., 25, was arrested on three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer; two counts each of reckless driving and aggravated flight from an officer; and one count each of resisting arrest and driving while impaired by a drug.
Troopers had been diverting traffic because of a car crash early Monday about 15 miles southeast of Baton Rouge, but the driver didn't stop, police said. When a trooper tried to stop the pickup truck, the driver sped up and hit the trooper in the leg, police said.
The driver tried to hit two more troopers on the chase who attempted to stop him near a restaurant, police said. Troopers then shot out the front right tire, and the car traveled another six miles south before crashing into a ditch.
Batulis and the injured trooper were both taken to the hospital and later released.
Batulis remains in jail, and police said he did not have an attorney listed.
